An entomologist, anthropologist and a group of other experts collected all kinds of spiders and put them into a dark Victorian house in order to observe in detail their behaviour, biology and survival strategies. Documentary resembles a reality TV show in its production style and passionate scientific voyeurism. It consciously works with the stereotypes and myths associated with spiders. It flirts with features of horror films, contemplates the origin of arachnophobia and presents the observed creatures in gloomy environments. However, it then disproves the "horrorness" of spiders through examples of humorous and fascinating facts about them. In exceptional detail, experts observe spiders weaving their webs, engaging in cannibalism, reproduction, giving birth to their young and gaining their independence. They reveal the reasons why spiders head for the bathroom, how they hunt as well as their bizarre method of reproduction, which verges on a fight for their lives. Their observations show that nature cannot be pushed beyond the walls of our homes. On the contrary, the biggest dramas of nature often take place in their close proximity. (Academia Film Olomouc)
