The tragicomic story of a boy and his very special uncle. A summer in the country in Sweden in 1963. Martin is about to turn twelve. As on every birthday, his shy Uncle Helmer arrives long before the other guests. And as usual his present is once again yellow this year – for yellow is his favourite colour. But when he decides to paint his house yellow the neighbours protest. And then one day Martin hears rumours that Uncle Helmer is in the 'loony bin' ... (Berlinale)
