English On FilmBooster, The Fury currently has an impressive 79% from 5 and a half thousand ratings, which is undoubtedly an enticing score. Therefore, I randomly watched three episodes from the second series to see if it's worth paying more attention to the show. I must admit that The Fury stands out craft-wise better than what is usual in Czech productions and outshines the genre attempts of commercial television. It visibly tries to draw inspiration from Nordic storytelling, adopting elements of the gritty school and imitating proven motifs and character types. However, other Czech series work much more impressively with the atmosphere of a uprooted, battered borderland, which fits into the Czech environment more credibly. The Fury fails in the basics - in solid, logically functional scripts that wouldn't have obvious flaws and gaps. Those who enjoy top-notch foreign series in a similar genre don't need to waste their time with The Fury because the quality doesn't come close to them, not even remotely. Perhaps the first series is more successful, but based on what I've seen, it was far from enough to hook me. Overall impression: 40%. ()
