Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre (Susannah York), a young English woman orphaned early in life, takes a position as a governess at Thornfield Manor. Her charge is a young girl by the name of Adele, whose legal guardian Edward Rochester (George C. Scott) is also the master of the rambling estate. Lord Rochester and the sweet governess develop a relationship and make plans to marry despite Edward's moody and controlling nature, and regardless of the bizarre incidents that occur at the manor. But just when Jane thinks she has the life she always wanted, a treacherous secret long buried is unearthed, and Jane's empathy, trust, and love for Edward is put to the test.
