If the human concept of time ceases at the moment of death, is it then physically possible to maintain a memory forever? In this artistically sophisticated documentary, Maria Bäck and her partner and cinematographer Maria von Hausswolff, explore memory, eternity and death. It is partly shot in a hospice, whose guests do everything from extending their insect collections to tenderly caring for a flower in order to make the most of their final days on earth. Partly, it is dramatised with the help of actors who are tasked with putting the existential matters the film revolves around into words. Subjects that at first glance might seem difficult, dark or even cliché are portrayed in an utterly original way in a film impressive in its lovely cinematography and poetic examination of the final frontiers of life, and perhaps the crossing into eternity.
