In a world with 60 million refugees and in a country—perhaps not known for its generous refugee policies—we meet the children and the teachers at the Red Cross school outside of Copenhagen. 10-year-old Magomed has fled with his family from Chechnya, where his father experienced prison and torture. While waiting for asylum status, Magomed and his family live in limbo, where they are forced to uphold a daily life with school and new friends at the same time as memories of trauma and the threat of deportation always lurk in the background. Andreas Koefoed (The Arms Drop, GFF 2014) is back with a delicate and gripping portrayal of the asylum process from a child's perspective and a film that opens a little door to a world that many are forced to pass through, but which many more of us will perhaps never understand.
