Plots(1)
Given the presence of Arthur, Guinevere, Prince Hal, et al., this film must have been intended as a serious look at British history. Ladd is a "swordsmith" who is in love with Medina, daughter of earl Harry Andrews. That romance will never do, however, because the caste system is far too rigid to allow a commoner to wed a lady. Ladd sets out to prove himself worthy and, with the help of Morell, strives to become a knight. He becomes the Black Knight of the title, a mysterious man who romps around the countryside jousting and foiling and thwarting the goals of Cushing and Patrick Troughton. Huge battle scenes and nonstop action. (official distributor synopsis)
