Plots(1)

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall investigates why we waste so much food and, with one third of all food produced in the country never getting eaten, he challenges supermarkets and the fast food industry to reduce their waste. The average family disposes of £700 worth of food every year and Hugh confronts shoppers in a supermarket, armed with a wheelie bin, and attempts to take their shopping off them before they have even left the store. He also visits a parsnip farm in Norfolk, where he discovers how any slightly imperfect fruit or vegetables will be rejected because of strict cosmetic standards imposed by the supermarkets.
