Sergeant Csillag Pali is in the middle of a farewell kiss to Mencike, losing his purse in the act. Off he goes to another village, where he has Zsófi, who has been waiting for him for over six years. She is, however, now married to judge Török, who, it appears, is willing to let her return to Csillag. The lad and his troop arrive. The Hussars' pay was in the lost purse. The judge slyly offers Pali 500 forints if he guards the honesty of his house while he is away, but Pali, seeing his wife, wants none of his help. Török has in the meantime left, and he now returns in secret. Zsófi invites Pali for dinner. Though nothing happens, the homecoming Török still chases his wife away and reports Pali because of the lost 500 forints. In the end, both the purse and the money of the judge are found, the judge settles the affair with Zsófi while Pali finds his lover in Mencike. (official distributor synopsis)
