English A television film with a refined composition of shots and a decent script, which does justice to its literary source. It's definitely nothing exceptional, but considering its reasonable length and intriguing twist, it's more than a tolerable affair. Overall impression: 60%. ()

English The faithful retelling of King's (actually Bachman's) novel is quite an entertaining B-movie. The masks and the portrayal of the weight loss process are a joy to look at, Licht's music is also good, Stephen King's mini-role (he plays the pharmacist Mr Bangor) was a delight. It’s too bad Thinner doesn't have a bit more atmosphere... It works well in moments like Billy's arrival at the gypsy camp or Ginelli's final rampage, but otherwise it's undramatic and bland... And in most cases also poorly acted (even by B-movie standards). ()
