In the western town of Gunlock, Sheriff Bill Jorden (John Agar, Sands of Iwo Jima) prepares to hang Sam Hall (Richard Boone, Big Jake) for murder and cattle-stealing. But there is much more to this impending execution than meets the eye – as disgruntled townsfolk raise opinions against the accused and scheme to carry out their own particular brand of justice. With the clock ticking down, the farmers are intent on a lynching whilst Hall’s colleagues are fixing to set him free – it’s up to the sheriff to keep the town from coming apart at the seams.
