The victory of the revolution in 1949 like the spring thunder also awoke the snow mountain that sleeping a long time, and brought an earth-shaking change to that ancient and mysterious land. One day in 1950, a red team reached Ganzi which located in the southwestern Sichuan Province. The people's liberation army stationed in this place, and started to build railway which would connect Tibetan and the outside world. Geology technician Li Sujie who just graduated from college came with the army, and filled with enthusiasm to serve the motherland. By chance, the people's liberation army rescued a drowning aristocrat. Under the proposal of Li Sujie, the aristocrat released two slaves, including one Tibetan girl named DaWa.
