Girls' Fair

The people of Palánk are preparing for the famous girls' fair. Gergely János just came back from Canada with his stepdaughter, Lukrécia, who is very interested in this popular custom. In the meantime Doctor Kiss, Hadai's legal representative, is trying to collect the money that Lukrécia's father owes him, from Gergely, who refuses to pay. The girls' fair takes place in the pub. Lukrécia comes in a national costume with her servant Biri. Hadai dresses up as a young peasant and marries Lukrécia. The marriage proves to be valid, and the hoyden Lukrécia resigns herself to her lot. (official distributor synopsis)
