The small country town is preparing for the election of the trade-union president. The two rivals, Kövi Dénes, owner of the elegant "Crown" restaurant and Bálint Antal, owner of the modest "Club Seven" restaurant do their best to win the title. Balázs Pál, who was appointed manager of the destitute painter, makes use of the occasion and advises Kövi Dénes to order a portrait. The customer does not take the picture, so it is put in the window of the "Club Seven" with a satirical verse next to it. The painter's poverty ends now, customers line up in front of his rented room, but he is not happy, because he fell in love with the daughter of the ridiculed restaurant-owner. Bálint Antal wins the election and tries to conciliate the loser for the young people's sake. (official distributor synopsis)
