Prioritize:
For a historical film, it's good, and it's gritty. The gritty stuff is the main focus, so the actual story that plays out doesn't even seem to be very important. It does build up very well towards the end, although I almost found some scenes to be illogical. Still, I couldn't shake off a certain pleasant impression, perhaps in the hints of similarity to the film Apocalypto. ()
