Muerte Es Vida: Death Is Life

Sabino, a Mexican, believes the monarch butterflies that come every year are the souls of departed family coming back to visit the living in Mexico, arriving in time for the Day of the Dead after an epic journey from Canada and the northern United States. The monarch butterfly is the connection between the film's characters. It also helps us experience the extraordinary customs of Sabino and his wife linked to veneration of their ancestors. We will also meet people from Canada and the States who saw monarch butterflies at difficult moments on the border of life and death. Both these butterflies and these people are determined to persevere through life. (Warsaw Film Festival)
