Train Station

The camera lens pans over a public space but extends its scrutiny to the inner space of passers-by. A compelling film from Černický's ABS video series (the title refers to the ABS braking system): the artist characterises it as "a ready-made version of time and space". The film footage is given so-called "mental titles", transcripts of the thoughts of people who are in shot at any given moment. The material for the "mental titles" was taken from the individuals themselves, who were questioned immediately after they moved out of shot (the director had a team of assistants helping him on site).
