The main stages of major city theatres attract the majority of their audiences via package tours and prebooked performances. Sometimes the journey can be even more important than the play itself. This documentary follows one such trip from the countryside to a ”theatre city”. In April 1990, people from Tuiskula village, which resides in the municipality of Köyliö in Western Finland, set off on a bus trip to Tampere. Together they make the journey an experience to remember. At Tampere Workers’ Theatre, they watch the hit comedy Rovastin häämatkat (The Wedding Trips of a Clergyman) by Agapetus (Yrjö Soini), directed by Pentti Kotkaniemi, a play performed almost 90 times. An ingenious and insightful documentary about a day trip to the theatre and beyond. The spirits ran high on the bus both ways, and the crowd enjoyed the play as well. (Tampere Film Festival)
