Like most Beastfallen, the half-tiger known as Mercenary hates the witches who created them, so when he's offered a chance to hunt witches, he quickly agrees. But things go spectacularly wrong when he's rescued by a witch instead and she wants him to become her bodyguard! Making matters worse, she's seeking a missing book, the Grimoire of Zero, which contains the secrets of Magic, which could possibly end the world if it falls into the wrong hands. (Sentai Filmworks)

English I really appreciate it when a show does not have the main protagonist who is just another "ordinary young boy." Plus, having a very friendly massive white tiger in the starring role is something I definitely think is a real winner. The other characters are also quite likable, and Zero - well, she is just great! Plus, if the chemistry between the main couple is good and the jokes and innuendos work, then there is no room for disappointment. The setting also looks appealing at first glance - the fight between the humans and the mages, plus half-beasts like our main protagonist who are definitely not going to have it easy... In other words, this show had the potential for being a deep, somewhat dark, and enjoyable narrative full of all sorts of plots and twists. In the end, though, it is a pretty simple tale about how a tiger and a girl (plus her friends) rid one small kingdom of its problems and set off on another journey full of adventure. Anyway, there is not much suspense, and there are only a few surprises of any kind throughout this anime series so that it can come across as tasteless and not funny. I liked what I was watching most of the time; it had some momentum, but it was a no-brainer. The feeling of being hungry for the next episode, the sense of wanting to know what was going to happen next, all of that came very rarely. It may well be a likable show, even though in many ways lacking in atmosphere, which is quite disappointing given the potential it had. I still enjoyed it, though, not least because of the pleasant soundtrack and animation, and I cannot bring myself to give it an average rating, if only for the white tiger. So I am awarding a slightly biased 7/10. ()
