More and more couples today are experiencing problems with conception, and the women affected are increasingly younger. The assumption that failure to conceive is only a problem for women over a certain age is no longer valid. These growing health issues obviously attract the attention of the pharmaceutical industry, which readily offers a solution to many prospective parents. This increased interest however creates a need for more donors, which can be dangerous. What strategies does the multi-billion dollar industry based on the trading of human eggs employ to meet the ever-growing demand? This documentary film uncovers the secrets of anonymous cell banks and shows the dangers associated with the donation process and how it is impacted by the commodification of human life. Because the promise that the donor of an egg "will help somebody fulfil their dream", as the advertisements of reproduction clinics say, might mean that the donor may not be able to live that dream herself one day.
