Life changed very abruptly for Will Lautzenheiser. A promising filmmaker and teacher, Will became a quadrilateral amputee after sudden, unexplained septic shock. Stumped is the amazing story of the years between amputation and the promise of a double-arm transplant. Don't skip to the next film synopsis (yes, you!). This is not a depressing film you want to avoid. This is an uncompromising look at an uncompromising man. From doing comedy routines about his amputations at a local comedy club to posing for comedic photo shoots, Will is not your give-up sort of man. With the love of his partner Angel, his twin brother Tom, and a team of surgeons who should all be wearing wings, Stumped is a film that grips you on levels you may have forgotten you have. Unflinching and darkly humorous, this documentary is about the ability to triumph and crack jokes while doing so. You will wince, laugh, and cheer. You will certainly cry. You will also leave with a deeper understanding of the meaning of victory. (Cleveland International Film Festival)
