Vidar is a farmer. He tends to his duties, is a good Christian and suffers endless insults from his mother. His life is in a rut; he craves excitement. However, a chance encounter with a vampire who claims to be Jesus will mean an entirely new existence for Vidar. At first, he embraces the madcap freshness of the experience but it's not long before he begins to question whether his humdrum existence was a much better life. (Fantastic Fest)

The Norwegian film Vidar the Vampire is not here to resurrect the vampire genre, and I don't think any film will be able to do that for some time yet. However, this film is here to show that it still makes sense to make films in this genre, because all you need is a bit of a specific approach and it will work and it will entertain the viewer. Although... Vidar the Vampire is a kind of film that is not for everyone. Not because it is bad, but simply because it is different.
