THE LIONS OF SABI SAND: BROTHERS IN BLOOD tells the incredible journey of Africa's most notorious pride, the legendary Mapogo lion coalition, a deadly group of six male lions and their violent struggle for power.
Based in Sabi Sands' Game Reserve bordering Kruger National Park in South Africa, the lions have been filmed continuously for 16 years by both professionals and amateurs, who have witnessed their extraordinary behaviour as they embarked on a devastating quest for territory. In their lifetime, these six males would conquer more land than any lions before them.
Led by the fearsome Makhulu, the pride formed an inseparable bond, which saw them unleash a devastating reign of terror, taking control of a vast territory. But when one of Makhulu's brothers embarks on a relentless quest for the throne, his vicious betrayal is sealed. For lions there is no leadership without enemies.
Their story is one of shocking violence, deception and thirst for power, revealing a surprising and sophisticated side to the power and politics of real lion behaviour. (official distributor synopsis)
