While audiences have been clamoring in recent years for more superheroes and comic book characters that reflect the diversity of the United States, the industry at large has not always been quick to meet that need. In Drawn Together, director Harleen Singh follows three comic book artists - Super Sikh creator Eileen Kaur Alden, Keith Knight of K-Chronicles and Sikhtoons founder Vishavjit Singh - as they travel to comic conventions, meet fans and discuss their long and often complicated relationship with the genre and pop culture. Singh connects the history of the comic book industry to how certain racial and ethnic prejudices and stereotypes have endured throughout generations. As viewers watch how the featured artists bring their stories to wider audiences, we also see how stories and images can shift popular thinking for the better. (CAAMFest)
