Newsreel 20/1990: Štefanik’s Resurrection

This monothematic edition of Slovakia’s weekly newsreel illuminates the life story of Milan Rastislav Štefánik – scientist, diplomat, first Minister of War and founding father of Czech - Slovak statehood. Shots of his home region alternate with archive footage and a recording of the nationwide pilgrimage to Bradlo, held to commemorate the 71st anniversary of his tragic death, with the participation of leading state officials: President Václav Havel, Federal Assembly Chairman Alexander Dubček, Czechoslovak Prime Minister Marián Čalfa and Slovak Prime Minister Milan Čič, among others.
