It doesn’t matter if Mr. Menzel uses a Bohumil Hrabal’s or Vladislav Vančura’s story as his source material. His way of filmmaking is beautifully and nostalgically melancholic and he always manages in an absolutely perfect way to include a fresh joke, thanks to which you simply fall in love with the actors of that era. In my opinion, this is the most significant role of Mr. Abrhám. And the rest of the cast is very nonchalantly complementing him in the story. ()
