Plots(1)

Three surreal, interconnected stories, each of them linked to Croatia’s traumatic past. It all starts on New Year’s Eve when a group of parents – Croats, Serbs and Bosniaks – steal the coffin of the late Croatian president, Franjo Tuđman, from his tomb. They want to exchange his remains for information on the whereabouts of their children who were killed in the war and buried in unmarked graves. Not everything goes according to plan. Tragicomic twists switch the plot between the coffin, some pensioners wearing Croatian national football team jerseys, and a suicidal general. When it is revealed how the three stories and their protagonists are connected, it looks like reality can sometimes be more controversial and more surprising than fiction. (Warsaw Film Festival)
