47-year-old Will van Sebille is a writer who is married, has two children and at first sight leads a happy life. But she has been keeping a secret for years: as a 17-year-old girl, in 1967, she disclaimed a son. In alle stilte takes us back to that year. The family is considered to be the cornerstone of society and unmarried motherhood is a disgrace. By the way, not just in a moral sense: a scientific standard book in those days describes extramarital pregnancies as "a threat to public mental health". Young girls who are pregnant are urgently advised to 'voluntarily disclaim' their child. Will van Sebille's story raises a lot of questions about this compelling advice.
