Post-Eclipse Transfocation

Post-Eclipse Transfocation (2018) is a video created by Pavlína Fichta Čierna which draws attention to the situation of transgender people. It strives to mediate the voice and individual story of a person who is misunderstood, condemned by the majority society and even stigmatized as a sick person. In her video-portrait, Romina Kollárik identifies the approach of society in which ignorance regarding transgender issues prevails and is connected with prejudice and the rejection of otherness. The video is also a testimony to the search for one’s own identity, self-acceptance, coping with misunderstanding and the rejection of society and of close relatives and acquaintances through active civic involvement, collective experiencing and organizing help for others.
