Unlike in his earlier socially critical films, in this mythical story of a great love Mohsen Makhmalbaf immersed himself in the tradition of Persian poetry, storytelling and carpet weaving. Based on them he created a stunning visual poem full of heady, colourful scenes celebrating the Iranian landscape. (Summer Film School)

English One of those films where you realize how it's also possible to play with visuals and create something absolutely unique. The connection between movement and scene here is so captivating that you'll wonder how you've seen so little of something like this in film. Iranian cinema of the 90s is definitely worth more exploration. ()
