Letters from Antarctica

Plots(1)

Diana is a single mother, who is incapable of telling her eight-year-old son Niki that his dad died in a car accident. She lies that his father is away with an Antarctic expedition and she sends letters and packages to Niki on his behalf. Suddenly a childhood friend Maria appears in Diana’s life and tries to help her recover from post-mortem trauma. However Diana is not ready to announce the truth and keeps postponing. This illusory state makes Niki happy, but gradually the deception grows and the kids in school, especially Valio, start to mock his fictional Antarctic stories. Niki becomes aggressive and that draws the attention of his teacher Mrs Andreeva. She investigates and uncovers the truth about the father’s death. (Sofia International Film Festival)
