The American film maker Jon Alpert went looking for "manbrokers" (Snakeheads) in China with a hidden camera. Officially the "selling" of Chinese to western companies is prohibited. But when Alpert needs workers for his "big farm in the USA", manbrokers do not hesitate to "sell" him a group of 20 to 30 Chinese. The Chinese authorities are fully aware of these practices. Alpert registers the deal with a sharp sense of humour. In New York`s Chinatown Alpert documents the daily life of Chinese who, thanks to a Snakehead, have finally arrived in the land of their dreams. A surprising, intelligent and insightful film.
