English Classic gritty Takashi Miike, who in this case is even darker and grittier. It's evident that he was still finding his form and hyper-stylization, but he was already on the right track. Above all, he was supposed to make a gritty crime thriller, which he ultimately succeeded in doing, and more than well. Some of the scenes really get to you. ()
