In the first minutes of One Man Show we see how, between the typical red double deckers and black taxis that are omnipresent in the streets of London, a fine-looking Englishman approaches on a bicycle. He looks like Mr. Bean's distant cousin. From a young age he wanted to become a metro conductor: the darkness always looked very mysterious and fascinating to him. But eventually his predilection for dark spaces made him decide to choose a completely different profession: projectionist. As he carefully wipes the dust off the film screen with a soft broom and replaces a lamp, he philosophises about his occupation. Man is one of the herd, but the projectionist is a loner. He leads his life in his own small world, his rattling projector being his only companion. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
