The long struggle for land sought to tear down that wall between patrons and servants that continues to divide Peru to this day. However, the Agrarian Reform Act of 1969 marked a before and after in the faces and in the official stories of our country, a profound change that Peruvian cinema managed to reflect and encapsulate in some of its most notable films, building a great imaginary that we rediscover today. 50 years after the social experiments of the so-called Peruvian Revolution, we have to ask whether Peru really got screwed or not with Juan Velasco Alvarado.
