Eleven-year-old Denise Gründmann detests the idea of leaving her home country and emigrating to the camping site her parents have bought in France. She feels comfortable in her class, Sjoukje is her best friend, and she does not make much progress tyring to learn French. ‘I can only count to 59.’ Totally unrestrained, Denise tells the film crew what she thinks about the imminent emigration and how she is trying prepares for it. But, once she gets to France and after a first day of a new school that proves better than expected, the optimistic Denise has a brighter view of her life abroad. She spreads her croissant with a generous lick of jam. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
