English Dating Amber has a very funny start, which gradually turns into a relationship and family drama, but it didn't appeal to me as much as the initial comedy level. The stone-throwing for attention really had its charms, and the sex education instructional video was very bizzarre. I was intrigued by the hillbilly atmosphere of the school, where the height of perfection was telling each other about your (un)real love experiences. While the film offers a strong story on the whole, it didn't get under my skin that much and the ending itself didn't quite work for me. A stronger three stars! ()

English Director and screenwriter David Freyne tells a quite original story about friendship and self-acceptance that has the power to engage more senior viewers too. At least I totally fell for it. I haven't seen such a good teen movie in a long time. I laughed a lot from the very beginning, some situations were really very funny. However, as time went on, there were also much more serious and sad moments, during which I came close to tears. I really must to praise the unassuming lead duo, Fionn O'Shea and Lola Petticrew, who managed to express a wide range of emotions with great sensitivity. I also really liked the 90's soundtrack, which accurately captured the era in which the movie takes place. (90%) ()
