A French actress (Beatrice Dalle) arrives in Hiroshima to begin work on the remake of Alain Resnais' ''Hiroshima Mon Amour''. Scenes are shot, discussed, re-shot. A writer friend of the director asks him why he is remaking the Resnais film. The director can answer only that it is because he has yet to make sense of his feelings. As the shoot progresses, the actress begins to question the motives behind the director's obsessive desire to film the city of his birth, and to confront the memories and complex emotions evoked by this mythic city in the psyche of his generation. Later, walking on a beach with the writer, the actress learns that the director is cancelling the shoot. Her time in Hiroshima is over. (Wild Bunch Distribution)
