Plots(1)

Comic actor Ben Stiller co-wrote, directed, and stars in this spoof of the fashion industry that began as a short skit for the 1996 VH1 Fashion Awards. Stiller is Derek Zoolander, an intellectually challenged but bone structure-blessed male model who's despondent after being eclipsed in popularity by an equally vacuous rival, Hansel (Owen Wilson). Upon his reluctant retirement, Derek is invited to a day spa by previously standoffish fashion designer Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell), where the befuddled model is brainwashed by the mysterious Katinka (Milla Jovovich) into assassinating the prime minister of Malaysia. English That's how you find out one day that you don't have a review for Zoolander, even though you love that movie about a totally dumb good guy (who controls so many different perspectives) so much. A very funny and very clever comedy that has no problem switching between crackling humor and moments that I'm not afraid to call poignant and yet still funny, well cast and not giving a damn. ()

English This comedy just entertains me. It's so silly that it's great. It is played for stupidity, but at the same time, it is an excellent critique of what is actually important in our society. There are absolutely fantastic characters here that will stick in your memory, also because their actors were willing to give everything to their performances and were not afraid. ()

English I'll have Ben Stiller fixed in my mind as an original filmmaker, also considering his previous The Cable Guy. Zoolander is a hard to describe film, with an original story and some brilliant scenes. I can't say I laughed my ass off, but it's definitely not boring crap. ()

English Jesus Christ. Well I honestly expected it to be more of a romp, but there were some great jokes. Actually, I wasn't so much amused by Ben Stiller as I was by Owen Wilson's perfect creation. I might have had a little more fun if I had known that Milla Jovovich played Katinka (and I kept wondering if she was really hot or horrible) and Will Ferrell played Mugatu. I found the humor of the film more or less quite similar to Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and the latter was crammed with jokes, about a third of which I laughed at, but I laughed hard, and that’s the main thing. English On most works of the legendary Frat Pack, I can find a surprisingly large number of mistakes, but this is a bomb. Insane, at times incomprehensible, but full of absurd humor and immensely funny and striving for the highest rating for me. Zoolander has exactly the swagger and the right way of uncontrollability and unclassifiability that I can adore even at an age when I am no longer the target audience. ()
