Kirie, a young schoolgirl, first notices this phenomena when she encounters her boyfriend's father, maniacally videotaping a snail crawling up a wall. Later, her brooding beau, Shuichi, reveals that the odd behavior goes further - his father has filled an entire room with various spiral objects. Before long, this growing madness leads to a series of gruesome and unbelievably bizarre deaths. (Discotek Media)

I’m sorry, but I can’t be bothered with this. Once again, I let myself be drawn into Asian weirdness, I looked forward again, I got bored again, and I again told myself that I won’t do it again. It’s so tedious and slow, and pointlessly bleak in the second half. The story is weirdly curious (which is good), but it goes from nowhere to nowhere (which is bad). This time there wasn’t even a good climax; massive disappointment overall. I’m giving it two stars in appreciation for at least the diversity and the good cinematography. ()
Spiral is a slightly different horror film, which at times tries to scare the viewer too easily by using tools that are too typical for Japanese horror. However, when it sticks to its own eccentricity, one cannot deny its idea and effort to truly make the spiral a frightening symbol. It partially succeeds, but the film remains rather weak because the impact it has on you probably won't be long-lasting. ()
