In the first days of November 1956, Szabó and Csendes arrive in Budapest from the country-side. Szabó's wife wanted to keep him at home, he chose to put things in order instead. He visits Gerendás, his old friend in the metal factory. Seeing the confusion there, he promises to bring help. Szabó does not like the atmosphere in the ministry, either. The members of the Defence Committee arrest the colonel lieutenant, but Csendes manages to escape. In the prison, the Communists led by Szabó take over. An attack, however, is launched against them from outside. The outcome of the fighting is decided by the arrival of Soviet troops called in by Csendes. Order is restored and in front of the ministry Gerendás stands the guard in quilted jacket. (official distributor synopsis)
