Set in the U.K. and in the Arctic wasteland in the late 1850s, The North Water tells the story of Patrick Sumner (Jack O'Connell), a disgraced ex-army surgeon who signs up as ship's doctor on a whaling expedition to the Arctic. On board he meets the harpooner Henry Drax (Colin Farrell), a brutish killer whose amorality has been shaped to fit the harshness of his world. Hoping to escape the horrors of his past, Sumner finds himself in a male-dominated world, on an ill-fated journey with a murderous psychopath. In search of redemption, his story becomes a harsh struggle for survival in the Arctic wasteland. (Home Box Office)

English The thin veneer of civilization cracks under the pressure of cold and hunger... Former army surgeon forced to join a whaling trip choses conflict with a human monster whose greatest talent is survival. Colin Farrell excels in the role of harpooner Henry Drax, making watching The North Water a perverse kind of enjoyment, showing man in all his nakedness. O'Connell’s Sumner attempts to balance this by philosophizing under the influence of laudanum and the love thy neighbor style that he learned from the Bible, but the result is that battle he is fighting with his moral integrity is already lost. Beautiful nature and a raw approach to depicting violence. Something between The Revenant and Heart of Darkness. I'll gobble down anything you give me, any fսcking thing at all. I ain't fussy. Brains, bollocks, arseholes. ()
