Roque Madrid studied Filmmaking at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and at the New York Film Academy. There he produced and successfully screened his first two short films: Paul’s Pictures and These things do happen, receiving a special mention that year in the Munich Short Film Festival. After working on television (Ana y los 7, El faro de Alejandría) and films (Carmen, Cachorro) he founded Cuarto Creciente, a production company. In advertising he has worked for large companies such as Vodafone, Nokia, Kellogg’s and Ferrero. He directed the documentaries, Piedra sobre piedra and Sirius. In 2006 he produced the documentary Sandra or Luis that won the Best Documentary award for at the LesGaiCineMad. In 2007 he created and directed his first television show: Explorers. He has directed the films Escóndete and The Return of Elias Urquijo. In 2012 he won the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Cannes Film Festival with his short film Talking dog for sale, 10 euros.
