Biography

Mamoru Hosoda first came to public attention in the early 2000 with one of the first movies in the "Digimon Adventure" series and the sixth instalment in the "One Piece" series, Omatsuri danshaku to himitsu no sima (Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island, 2005). For several years he worked for the companies Toei Animation and Madhouse before creating, in 2011, his own animation studio, Studio Chizu. Particularly interesting works in his filmography are Toki wo kakeru shojo (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, 2006), Sama wozu (Summer Wars, 2009) and Okami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (Wolf Children, 2012).
