Biography
Cemal Şan was born in Tunceli, Turkey. He studied first business administration and then economy. Among the founders of Yeni Sinemacilar (New Film-Markers) Şan has worked as technical producer, scriptwriter, assistant director, script consultant, supervisor and actor in various films. He has written the scripts for several famous Turkish films and has directed several TV movies and series. His first film ALI (1996) won the Promising Young Director Award at the 9th Ankara International FF. His filmography includes: ZEYNEP'IN SEKIZ GÜNÜ/ ZEYNEP'S EIGHT DAYS (1997), DILBER'IN SEKIZ GÜNÜ/DILBER'S EIGHT DAYS (2008), which was in Perspective competition of the 31st MIFF, and SONSUZ/ETERNITY (2009). ACI won 3 awards at Dadaş FF and a prize of Tehran Faj International FF.
