Biography

Michel Ocelot (1943) is a French animator, screenwriter and director. He got his creative inspiration during his childhood in Africa, as well as his shadow theater skills. He studied art at schools in France and the USA. He's worked for TV and filmed his own short animated films. His successful feature animated works include the fairy tales Kirikou and the Sorceress (Kirikou et la sorcière, 1998), Kirikou and the Wild Beasts (Kirikou et les bêtessauvages, 2003), Azur & Asmar (2006) and Tales of the Night (Les Contes de la nuit, 2011).
