Biography
Audrey Diwan is a French film director of Lebanese origin. She became a screenwriter after studying journalism and political science. She published her first novel in 2008. She started out in film as a co-writer on a series of thrillers including Paris Under Watch, The Connection and Bac. In 2021 she presented her second solo feature film Happening. It is the adaptation of a 2019 novel written by the respected French writer Annie Ernaux and recounts the author's own struggle to have an abortion when she was a student in 1964, 11 years before abortion was legalized in France in 1975.
