Katie Holmes

KATIE HOLMES was born in Toledo, Ohio, the last born into a family of six children. At the age of fourteen, Katie Holmes began modeling. She then spent time in New York competing in the International Modeling and Talent Association competition and before going to Los Angeles to audition for acting roles.

Her first role was in Ang Lee‘s The Ice Storm. It was a small role but marked the beginning of her professional career. However, it was during her high school play that she was invited to audition for the role Joey Potter in Dawson‘s Creek. Not wanting to give up her role in the high school play, Holmes sent in the audition via tape. Creator of Dawson‘s Creek and also executive producer commented on Holmes: her "unique combination of talent, beauty and skill that makes Hollywood come calling. But that's just the beginning. To meet her is to instantly fall under her spell."

Katie Holmes then moved into feature film, fitting in acting roles around her schedule on Dawson‘s Creek. These films included Disturbing Behavior and Go.

Holmes‘ projects are varied, from mainstream to art house. These films include Wonder Boys, The Gift, Pieces of April and Batman Begins. Holmes has also appeared on stage, making her Broadway debut in a revival of Arthur Miller‘s All My Sons.

Katie was married to Tom Cruise and they have one daughter, Suri.
