Biography

Tibet is an award wining, independent documentary filmmaker and visual anthropologist. Shemostly films and directs her own films, advocating for local livelihood and social justice. Her first documentary film "28 Days on the Moon" (2012) on cave dwellers of Cappadocia and her recent award winning film AMCHI (2013 ) on Tibetan healers have been broadcast by IZ TV and made it into many international film festivals. AMCHI won the award of excellence for the most inspiring filmmaker of the year and best original soundtrack by the Jakarta film festival in 2014.Got mention award for best cinematography along with many other awards.Her recent film on nomadic pastoralists of Turkey "Hey Geci" (2014) did its' world premiere in BIFED ecology film festival and has been screened at the art history museum of Geneva in Switzerland. Eda holds a BA degree on Economics from Istanbul Bilgi University and an Mphil on Social Anthropology from the University of Kent (UK). She is currently a Phd student and a research assistant at the University of Bern in Switzerland, working on a SNF funded research project on the unaccompanied minor refugees in Turkey and their biographies on education. Eda filmed, edited, directed and produced "Refugee Here I am", her first feature documentary film together with Enzo Ikah. The first premiere making it into cinemas, is now in its' festival circuit.
