Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) was a leading figure of French culture. He was endowed with a versatile artistic talent. He established himself first as a playwright and librettist, and later began publishing his own literary texts. His feature film debut was the avant-garde The Blood of a Poet (Le Sang d'un poète, 1932), based on his own screenplay, the same as his other famous films Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la bête, 1946), Orpheus (Orphée, 1950) and Testament… (more)
